I am a Ph.D. in art history who works on the history of flapped prints and ivory anatomical manikins. I also have a great interest in the (mostly church) architecture in Franconian Germany and in my travels–as you can see from my adventures here. See more about me at academia.edu.

  1. Fascinating! Just a thought about the gesture of some of the ivory mannikins…it’s the same gesture that Dr. Tulp makes in Rembrandt’s 1632 painting….Much has been made of the iconography of the gesture of Dr. Tulp, by Heckscher, for example.
